When I started to give Tarot decks as presents to friends, I’d send a brief note along the following lines.
I see Tarot as a language of intuition. Our intuition is like thousands of Sherlock Holmeses at our disposal, but we need to ask a clear question and then hear the answer. Tarot helps to express the answer, and to get the meaning of it.
Why specifically Tarot vs runes, books opened on random pages, coffee mud, clouds?
Runes and tarot both are great systems – a language that has a structure, is fairly consistent, yet adaptable to your preferences and needs. The runes are super fun to cast but getting in tune with them may take a bit more time, so Tarot may be an easier start.
What happens when you ask a question and draw cards to answer it?
It’s a mystery. But let’s say energy moves you to select cards that best answer your question in your language (system).
Who’s energy?
If you ask about yourself or for yourself – yours. If you are doing it for a client or friend – theirs, so let them pull the cards. If they are on the phone, email, etc – tune into them, let their energy guide you. Choose decisively – long meditation and feeling into cards may not make your reading any better.
Ask the question, trust, choose cards, interpret within the context of the question and support of your intuition.
